Revit File Naming Guidelines

The name of any Revit project file should consist of the project number, project name, Discipline of the model and the Revit version the model is being worked in. The extension is always automatically added to a file name.  You will not have to worry about the extension, but it is important to be able to identify the different types of files you are working with. Revit project files always use the extension “.rvt”.

File Naming Structure
01234_ProjName_DV_Central.rvt

01234        = Project Number
ProjName  = Project Name
D               = Discipline
V               = Revit Version
Central       = Central File

Examples:
Typical (non central) project file:
14210_Conroe ISP HS_A15.rvt
Central project file:
14210_Conroe ISP HS_A15_Central.rvt
